| Now retired from BT (Post Office Telephones) after what seems like a lifetime! 44 years. Lived around Frome-Somerset now for over 33yrs.Have had an interest in railways all my life,my father was a GWR Freight Guard.Could be seen hanging around Westbury steam sheds in the late 50's,still hanging around railways somewhere even today....Have amassed many 1000's of transparancies and lately digital images of railway based subjects.Hope to eventually show many of my better pictures here, not necessarily in full sunlight!..new scans etc to be added regularly............

At last after all the hYpe I am able to see one of the new immigrant 70's for myself. This one 70002 is to remain here at Stoke-Gifford nr Bristol for Testing and Training.Loco has yet to venture out on to the mainline so this picture shows locomotive literally 'Brand-New'.Engine has a definite resemblance to the now defunct 58's apart from the rather ugly front end which has included in the design those awful looking serrated 'over-rider' crash zones probably inflicted on the design-team by good old H&S.Number-Range is interesting as well, strictly speaking this should be a Class 68 or 69.The 70 to 79 range on 'TOPS' was originally reserved for Electric DC Machines such as SR Electro-diesels etc.Still not much chance of any more of those being built is there? ..12 november 2009.. | Latest Images(All types) -----Mainly digital but still a few slides.(Will be moved to respective galleries after about a Month) | (115) |

Freightliner Staff involved in training on the new Class-70 70002 have an impromptue 'Team-Brief' in the car-park at Stoke-Gifford during a lull in training. The fitter doing 'exams' on several 66's in the yard certainly picked the most inconvenient place to dump his vehicle.(Probably did it on purpose!)..12 november 2009.. | Latest Images(All types) -----Mainly digital but still a few slides.(Will be moved to respective galleries after about a Month) | (89) |

The local 'RHTT' ambles down through Frome on the Avoider with '3S13' heading back to St-Blazey for servicing. The grubby pairing 66116/66148 on the job today.Just scraped the shot before the light folded for the rest of the day! ..02 november 2009.. | Latest Images(All types) -----Mainly digital but still a few slides.(Will be moved to respective galleries after about a Month) | (72) |

Close-up detail of the cab design on these new Engines.Zoomed inspection shows rust already setting in around the footsteps and bottom of the door.Probably due to the long sea journey from the United-States to the United Kingdom! .Loco parked at Stoke-Gifford-Yard near Bristol for Initial training straight off the Ship at Newport Docks..12 november 2009..Footnote--Locomotive is American,Wagons are Polish,Coal in the wagons is South-American,Fitters-Van probably made in Germany.Dead Leaves on the floor are produced in the UK.No wonder we have a balance of payment deficit in this Country!20 years ago everything in this shot would have been sourced in the UK.Who wants to buy some Dead-Leaves?.... | Latest Images(All types) -----Mainly digital but still a few slides.(Will be moved to respective galleries after about a Month) | (70) |

Whilst 60011 waits for its path on to the Branch for Westerleigh with '6B13' from Robeston the NMT(43014 leading),presumably '1Z12' heads north away from Bristol going to Birmingham and beyond.Quite a surprise this chance shot particularly with two of the more interesting pieces of traction in the same frame! Location is Yate Station nr Bristol..06 november 2009.. | Latest Images(All types) -----Mainly digital but still a few slides.(Will be moved to respective galleries after about a Month) | (65) |

Welcome to my Fotopic Site....Eventually will cover not only modern scene from around 1990 to date but also some quite old stuff from my youth in the 1960's.These will be mainly B&W but a few early slides, some a bit suspect due to age(Up to 45 yrs old) but historically
quite interesting..Photographic equipment used varied from Brownie 127 and Halina 35x in the 60's through 35mm Spotmatic Pentax's up to mid 90's then Olympus OM series camera's until finally went modern with a couple of EOS Canons...Digital started in October-2003 with Minolta-Dimage 7i,...then another Minolta,an A200....Moved on to a Canon EOS 350D then a 400D and now a 40D, (With the 400D as a back-up)........... @Sept 2009
Lenses used currently are ....35mm f2.0,...50mm mk1 f1.8,...28-105 USM Mk-2 (My Favourite. 'L' Quality without the cost! Guess I just got lucky with this one!),... 28-135 IS-USM Zoom,... and an "L series" F4.0 70-200 USM Zoom, all Canon system-lenses.
Keep checking back as I will be updating regularly with both fresh stuff and older slides as well ------------ (Site now contains 2600 pictures to date---November- 2009---) --So don't be shy, have a dig around ! Thanks for looking ....Tom C.....(TC on Tour)
