Love them or hate them GM loco's are here to stay.Originally arrived in the late 80's(59/0's) and became a flood around the turn of the century!!!!!! All types covered.59/0,59/1,59/2and all 66's...Total in country now approaching 500 and rising fast! In the not too distant future I expect this country to be 100% GM in the Freight sector....

Running cautiously on the steepish decent to Bedlam Tunnel on the Whatley-branch is 66031 drawing '6Z86' empties from Uskmouth-PS to Whatley-Quarry.Of interest is the fact that this engine (66031) was stored u/s at Toton for a few years needing a replacement engine and is only recently returned to active duty.Note the freshly painted plain-red door and dead pigeon stuck up the buckeye-coupler recess! ..24 june 2009..

66077 'Benjamin Gimbert GC',one of the few named DBS Sheds runs past Pirton on the banks of the River-Severn with '6V12' a train of MBA's carrying scrap from Brierley-Hill (15:32 departure) going to Barry Docks,running just 44mins late! Amazingly when these Monster-Boxes were first built less than 10 years ago they were the same colour as the locomotive! and no they have not been repainted!...02 june 2009..  Footnote,Who was Benjamin Gimbert GC'? he was the driver of an ammunition train that exploded at Soham on 2nd june 1944 causing massive damage,had it not been for his heroic actions uncoupling the burning wagon from the rest of the train the subsequent explosion would have been far-far worse,as it was the blast destroyed much of the village,he was lucky to survive!

Having sneaked back from the Big-Show at Eastleigh overnight 59206 was put to work straight away on the Westbury-Machen Circuit.Here is the return working '6C83' sweeping through Claverton in fine lighting running about 2 hours or so late due to loco suffering a failure at Machen,obviously minor as was repaired in less than 120 minutes! ..26 may 2009..

Although I live quite close to the mainline that this engine traverses virtually every day since it was repainted in Schenker Livery 4 months ago, this is the first 'decent' sun on the nose shot I have achieved (Not for the want of trying!). Here is the sun-shy 59206 running down past Clink heading for Merehead with the returning 'Bow Olympic-6V64'..20 may 2009..

The "LaFarge" self-discharge train was unexpectedly seen passing through Bathampton in the late afternoon past the loop there on a working from Bridgewater going to Mountsorrel Quarry "6Y13".Loco was FL 66529.Note the new palisade fence here that was erected within days of the cutting being cleared of many large trees and thick vegetation.Think I prefer the jungle!..28 march 2009..
