Making a fine sight as it powers through the site of the old station at Coalpit-Heath in the northern outskirts of Bristol is '6M67',the nuclear fuel-rod train from Bridgewater to Sellafield.Today was a 'First' a pair of GM 47-rebuilds,57008 and 57003.Was running well-late so lack of hard sun was (for a change) welcomed! Note the immaculate condition of lead loco,this took part in the opening ceremony of the new Telford Freight Terminal on 10th of June and has been named using traditional plates ''Telford International Railfreight Park June-2009'' to commemorate the event..18 june 2009.

Still carrying the nameplate (Robert Boyle) it was given when first introduced into traffic 60013 rolls along at 10mph on the final leg of the journey to Westerleigh Oil Terminal.Running exactly to time it seems such a shame that these machines (60's) have such an uncertain future..17 june 2009..

As mentioned in previous shot of this working'6B13' it was slowing for a signal-check at Severn-Tunnel-Junction,decided to take a flyer for a 2nd shot of Tug74 at the Junction Station.Managed to get there just in time,here it is again picking up speed just prior to turning left for its journey along the banks of the Severn Estuary!..02 june 2009..

'6B13' the Robeston to Westerleigh Tank-Train has been the exclusive preserve of 'Celeb' 60074 for quite some time lately,happily this has co-incided with a spell of sunny settled weather.Here is the 'Big Blue Tug' slowing down for a signal check at Severn-TJ at Undy.(Full light,15mph--Perfect!) ..02 june 2009..

Since this engine received its Celeb-Repaint getting a decent picture of it was quite difficult,however things are a little easier now it has been confined to the local fuel trains.Have to keep 'bashing it' as if it goes 'Bang' that will be it and indefinate storage would follow...Here it is on the Westerleigh Branch at Westerleigh running quite slowly at line speed(10 mph) just about one mile from the Fuel-Terminal..01 june 2009..

Having watched this engine'60074' shunt up the train together in Westerleigh-Terminal it was decided to try for a shot of the departure even though cloud cover was nearly 100%.As we struggled to this location we got soaked in a sharp rainstorm,I ripped my jeans and was rather plastered in the local mud! Anyway luckily the cloud split to produce a nice shot of '6B47' passing Westerleigh Village on its journey up the branch towards the main-line at Yate.Note the five matching old style murco tanks on the front of the consist..16 may 2009..

Having arrived at Westerleigh terminal 60074 then commences to split and shunt the loaded fuel-tanks into position ready to discharge the load.Here'Teenage Spirit' is backing the TEA's into position having split the train.Note the road-sign also refers to the long defunct 'Binliner Terminal' as well! ..16 may 2009.. Footnote..Each TEA tank hold just over 100,000 litres of fuel,that makes each tankload worth in excess of £100.000:00. and a trainload approaching £3-million.......A pretty valuable payload!!!

Running over 2 hours early! at this stage of its journey,"6B33" thuds past Badminton with 60065 at the helm. Working is of coarse the Theale to Robeston Empty Tanks..07 may 2009..

After arrival at Westerleigh the train engine then splits the train into two equal portions and positions them so that all tanks can be unloaded.60074 seen in the middle of this shunting activity reversing back for the first drop off..07 may 2009..

Running down the branch to Westerleigh Murco Terminal at a steady 10mph is "6B13",engine today was the celeb repaint 60074 "Teenage Spirit"doing a remarkable impression of one of the old "British Steel" liveried tugs of a few years ago..07 may 2009..

So there we were, sat in the car at Farleaze about a mile east wishing we hadn't bothered due to full cloud cover when a largish 'hole' appeared in the murk,so a quick dash to this spot on the right side (just in case) finally gave me this full sun shot of 60074 after 7 previous failed efforts! Meter reading on camera actually implied exposure was 1/2 brighter than full-sun setting???...To say we were stunned at the level of light would be an understatement....anyway this is '6B33' running pretty much to time passing Farleaze nr Badminton,empty tanks from Theale back to Robeston in Taffy-Land..05 may 2009..

This is the 6th go at this loco(6th dim shot).Getting to be a bit of a Voodoo-Engine now to me,plenty of shots when it was grey but now ???? .. Anyway here the re-instated 60074 tugs through Badminton with "6B33" doing one of its usual tricks running about an hour ahead of booked time and about an hour ahead of the sun as well.Expect it to stay in the area on tank-trains for a few weeks so more chances to follow.Probably it will be going to Eastleigh open-day but don't think I can face the scrummage that will be!..28 april 2009..

Wizzo "Western Champion" D1015 did a stock move for the "Colas" group today conveying a "StoneBlower" track-machine from Marsh-Junction,Bristol down to Southampton Docks,from where this unit is set to be exported.Running as "8Z52" technically this is a revenue earning freight train! Setting is the top of Upton-Scudamore Incline on the approach to Warminster..08 april 2009..

Running almost silently as D1015 freewheels through the "Dip" on the climb to Warminster on Upton-Scudamote Bank is seen "8Z52" from Bristol Marsh-Junction to Southampton Docks.The "Stoneblower" is to be exported by its owners "Colas"..08 april 2009..footnote--Despite appearances 5-seconds before shot was taken entire scene was in shadow! Miracles DO happen sometimes!

Today one of the few remaining class-60's managed to get on to "6B33" again,first time on a saturday for about a month.Here is seen 60031 "ABP-Connect" still wearing the large dent in the front skirt,hauling its rake of bogie fuel-tanks past Farleys east of Badminton.Cutting here is very dead and brown looking due to recent attention from the "Notwork-Rail" cutting-crew! ..07 march 2009..

2 tugs still cling to life working out of Westbury.Here is seen 60011 with "6M20" from Whatley to St-Pancras passing through Pewsey on the B&H,doing a passable impression of a working out of Peak-Forest! ..24 february 2009..footnote-----To the right of 60011 can be seen one of the many-many new lighting poles that now adorn this station,To the pole's right can be seen a fenced off hole for more posts(8 in all around the platforms). On that new lightpole can be seen a few small signs giving info such as platform number and no-smoking etc.Because these fittings have not been "wind-tested" all signage must be removed and 8 new pole are be erected just for these notices!!!!!! I kid you not,---It would only happen in "Health & Safety" obsessed Britain!!!!!

One of only two active "Mainline"liveried loco's left at this time is 60011.Recently returned from store (but for how long?).Seen stopped at the "Feather-signal" at Fairwood nr Westbury waiting for a path into the "down-yard".Being held for a westbound HST.This working"6W43" came from overnight engineering works nr Dainton in Devon and is carrying replaced ballast ..22 february 2009..

Tug-49 continues to do good work for DB-Schenker even though itself and remaining classmates have been well kicked in the proverbials. Here is seen that loco with "6W42" running down the Frome avoider heading for a worksite somewhere near Dainton in Devon from Westbury.As wagons are empty will return tomorrow with a load of spent ballast. Unique feature on this particular class member is the total lack of the snowplough/skirt below the buffers on one end only, (front end in this case)..21 february 2009..

If anybody asks me if I chased this train all the way from Shrivenham to Peterstone,west of Newport in S-Wales I will deny it...Everybody knows wild-goose chases rarely pay off.That theory was proved yet again here.Beat it quite easily,waited 15mins in full light then as it appeared in the distance out went the lights.I think the fact Jamie Squibbs turned up 25 secs before it arrived may have had some bearing on it.As we all know most of his stuff is photographed in the dull!!!..24 january 2009..

Although I left home (Frome) under a clear blue morning sky,conditions very soon went sour as the mist rolled in through the morning,having got as far as Didcot before plans were abandoned decided to cut losses and just record this regular working before jacking it in and heading back home....60066 heads "6B33" Theale-Margam empty tanks viewed (just) passing the loops at Steventon on the main.The usual Didcot-PS Towers are invisable today due to dank conditions.Temperature here was sub-zero so I was well pleased when it turned up within minutes of pitching up to the bridge..10 january 2009..

Amazing that this locomotive built as long ago as 1964 (44 years old) is still performing front-line work the length of the country.Here we see 47237 (once D1914) stationary in Elford-Loop waiting for a couple of passenger working to pass.Train will then continue on its quite long journey from Stockton in the North-east to Cardiff.Its load appears to be mainly shredded car-bodies,most much younger that the loco taking them to the smelter!..16 october 2008..

Quite difficult these days to get a "Petroleum" Tug on a "Petroleum" sector train.However today was the day,sole remaining petroleum liveried 60054 was in charge of "6B33" from Theale to Margam.Here is the train passing Acton-Turville in thankfully superb light.Today was probably the best saturday of the summer??? so far....nice....20 september 2008..
