Expect most of the Caravanners were sat inside their vans eating tea and watching ITV when this machine roared past!(Probably complaining about the noise pollution!) 55019 on '2B38',the 1701 from Leicester to Loughborough approaching Woodthorpe in the late afternoon sunshine..12 september 2009..

This was (For Me) the most interesting locomotive at this extremely well run Gala.Former Scottish 'shove-duff' 47714, yet another CREL-Castoff is seen rounding the bend at Kinchley Lane on '1A33' the 15:10 from Loughborough to Leicester-North.Looking rather faded after being stored for some time but now appearing to work and sound Ok.Visit here is only a short one and am led to believe is going to Old-Dalby test track as a shunter! ..12 september 2009..

Something in preservation that is only possible on the GCR is the 'Passing-shot'.Her D5830 on the rear of '2C32' is passed by 50007 heading towards Loughborough.Biggest loss of the day was missing the Ochre-31 when it did it's once-only solo trip in the early morning..12 september 2009..

D8098 and D5830 on the rear make up the '2C32' service to Rothley from Loughborough(14:50) recorded passing a very crowded Kinchley Lane..12 september 2009..

Fictitiously numbered '4BIG' 7059 is seen being 'Push/Pulled' by 33114 or D6535 (take your pick) through Kinchley Lane with an Quorn Service'2C30'. At this time this Bagpipe-Crompton carries no identification whatsoever except the rail-blue paint job.This engine is part of the National Collection,all the buffer-beam damage it suffered prior the withdrawal has now been repaired..12 september 2009..

'Sir Edward Elgar' 50007 sweeps past Kinchley Lane looking superb on '2A30' from Loughborough to much approval from the gathered masses at this vantage point..12 september 2009..

Big type-5 55019 slows for the Rothley stop as 33114 and the 4BIG disappears away into the distance.Only here on the GCR is it possible to get 'done' by a passing working.Ident for this train is '1A23' Loughborough to Leicester-North..12 september 2009..

Class-27 running at this time as D5401 in '60's' livery.Eventually renumbered in post-Tops times as 27056/27112. Here it is viewed having just arrived at Leicester-North with '2A18', a through train from Loughborough.In the background can be seen the bricked up entrance door for the steps to the now removed original platforms,a pretty standard affair similar to Quorn and Rothley with an Island platform..12 september 2009..

Had a quick look at the southern end of the line at Leicester-North.Managed to record just one working before sun angle got too tight (12:30).Here is D5185 with 47714 tucked inside on '2A14' from Loughborough slowing for the terminus..12 september 2009..

Showing obvious signs of prolonged open-air storage by dint of the very faded paintwork and rather rusty looking underframe equipment,recently revived 47714 draws through Woodthorpe on the 11:45 (2A14) from Loughborough to Leicester-North.After this brief public appearance over the gala weekend this engine has been moved to Old-Dalby for use as the resident shunt engine..12 september 2009..

Resident 'Peak' D123 seen leaving Loughborough at Woodthorpe on '2C11'.Note the now redundant telegraph poles that used to carry the railways communication network.The copper conductors are long gone but the poles remain to stand sentry..12 september 2009..

Probably the star of the show by dint of the fact this was the first time a '50' has run on this line ever was 50007 still wearing the celebrity colours given to it many years ago (Remember the controversy when it was painted?)
