The very first engine to leave Barry for preservation was LMS 0-6-0 43924.Arrived in 1965 and departed about a few weeks after this shot was taken in September 1968.This engine was virtually complete, even the injectors and gauges were still fitted.Due to its completeness and good general condition engine was steamed again in 1970,less than 2 years after leaving the yard..August 1968..Previous | Next46521 with Standard class brother 78022 sit in the hot sunlight in the middle of the rows of loco's at Woodhams in Barry.9F is unidentified, both the 2-6-0's lived to fight another day.46521 was taken to the Severn Valley Rly 3 years later and hauled trains again by 1974.Note how complete it was, even the oilers were still present on the running plates..August 1968..
